DENVER (KDVR) — Denver's weather added another 90-degree day to start the work week. At 2:17 p.m., the National Weather Service reported a record-breaking high temperature. The hottest Aug. 21 temperature on record was 97 degrees in 2007. Monday, 99 degrees was recorded at Denver International Airport, according to NWS.It will stay hot, dry and breezy for a few more days. DENVER (KDVR) — Denver Public Schools students had to deal with brutally hot temperatures on their first day of school Monday.It was especially tough for students at the 37 DPS schools without air conditioning. Traylor Academy, an elementary school in Bear Valley, is one of those schools. Third-grade teacher Madie Rinehart said the heat takes a toll. "I think it impacts everybody's focus, and when you're not focused, it's really hard to do any learning," she said. DENVER (AP) — A judge has handed down a sentence of life in prison and over $15 million in penalties to a wealthy dentist who killed his wife at the end of an African safari.Larry Rudolph was sentenced Monday in a Denver federal court for murder in the 2016 death of Bianca Rudolph, as well as for mail fraud. A suspicious package found a South Florida beach prompted a quick response by police.Miami-Dade Police arrived at the scene at Crandon Park near Key Biscayne, Monday afternoon. 7Skyforce hovered over the scene as officers assessed the situation. New Hampshire State Police are investigating a possible drowning Monday morning in Franklin Pierce Lake in Hillsborough, officials said.Troopers responding to a report of a possible drowning found the victim, later identified as Alan Morrison, 76, of Hollis, New Hampshire, after neighbors found him in the water along the shoreline of his home and called 911, according to state police.Responding agencies included New Hampshire State Police Marine Patrol, New Hampshire State Police Troop B, Hillsborough police and fire departements, and the Hollis Police Department.The New Hampshire Medical Examiner’s Office also responded and have scheduled an autopsy for Tuesday.
